About Us
Alistair Bennett
Alistair Bennett is a Sydney-based drummer, percussion tutor, and the founder of OnBeat Percussion. With over ten years of teaching experience, Alistair is highly regarded for helping kids and teens across the Sydney North Shore build confidence, technique, and a genuine love for drumming.
Alistair’s professional drumming journey began at just 17. He studied under renowned drummer and educator Dave Goodman and later completed a Diploma in Music Performance, where he was awarded an international scholarship to tour and perform in Los Angeles and Austin, Texas.
Before drums, rhythm started with his feet—Alistair was a nationally ranked Irish dancer, placing 2nd in Australia for his age group and competing at the World Championships in Glasgow. This strong rhythmic foundation made his transition into drumming seamless.
Throughout his career, Alistair has performed with several Sydney bands including RYSE, Colourful Reality, and Mad Rambles, taking the stage at iconic venues such as the Metro Theatre, Factory Theatre, Lazybones, and Frankie’s Pizza.
Today, Alistair teaches private drum students aged 4–18 across the Sydney North Shore and works with schools including Barker College, Epping North Public School, and Winston Hills Public School. He also leads percussion ensembles at Parklea Public School and Kings Langley Public School, continuing to inspire young musicians through engaging, high-quality drum education.
